Worcester City Football Academy

Football GroupOur Academy is more than just a training ground – it is where our students develop into confident, committed and skilled young footballers. We are dedicated to developing the potential of our players, both technically and personally, in a challenging, safe and supportive environment. Our full-time programme balances classroom learning with outstanding practical training and is the nearest thing to a pro-scholarship available for talented young players in the Worcester area.

What can the Academy offer me?

For over 11 years, our Academy has offered the highest standards in learning and facilities. We boast
strong links with Worcester City FC first team and the University of Worcester, and are proud to offer you the use of the University’s 3G Astroturf. We also work with the University’s interns and experienced physiotherapist Mike Upton to deliver comprehensive sports therapy, rehabilitation and injury treatment.

We offer a range of nationally recognised qualifications led by highly qualified coaches with years of industry experience. The courses available through the Academy include:

 - Diploma in Sports (Football Academy) Level 2
 - Extended Diploma in Sport Performance (Football Academy) Level 3

Throughout your time at the College, you will be given the opportunity to compete in English College’s FA League and the Midland Football Combination

Football faceUnder 21’s League. Our students enjoy our professional yet friendly approach to training and especially look forward to the end of year season tour to Lloret De Mar, Spain!

Our football programme closely mirrors the life of a young apprentice footballer at a professional club. We offer three teams in three different leagues with up to three games running per week. Unlike other local clubs, who only offer 40 hours of training per season, we offer 240 hours of training every season.

Your typical day of training could involve:

  • 9.00-9.15am - Arrive & prepare to train (change, fill drinks bottles etc.)
  • 9.15-9.30am - Pre-training practices (possession in circle, header tennis, stretching)
  • 9.30-9.45am - Warm Up
  • 9.45-11.30am - TrainingFRootball playing
  • 11.30-12.00am – Tidy away equipment, shower & prepare for College.

Your training timetable will vary, but will consist of inclusive match-related practices including possession games, small-sided games, 11v11 matches and other drills. All matches are recorded and analysed by an Assistant Coach and Performance Analysis Interns.
