I
n addition to his role as Vice Chairman of the Corporation, Richard is a member of the Governance and Search Committee, the Remuneration Committee and the Finance Resources & Employment Policies Committee, which he also chairs. He is a ‘link governor’ for the Faculty of Skills and Technology.
Richard was educated in the Midlands and trained as a Mechanical and Production Engineer. He is a Chartered Engineer and for the last 15 years he has run his own company supplying ideas and equipment to the materials handling industry. He is a council member of the National Cold Storage and Distribution Federation representing over 60 supplier companies and 30 National Logistics companies. He has contributed to a number of reference books on materials handling.
Richard served with the Territorial Army for 31 years in the Royal Armoured Corps and the Royal Signals, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He is currently Chairman of the Comrades Association and trustee of a benevolent fund that provides financial support for ex serving members of a TA Regiment.
