Apply for this courseAbout this course
The awarding body for the course is AQA (4411). It is a year long course with three written exam papers being undertaken at the end, and one piece of coursework which is embedded into two class sessions. All four elements must be undertaken in order to be awarded a GCSE grade. The final written examinations are tiered allowing for candidates to choose between either a foundation paper (Grades C-G) or a higher paper (grades A*-D).
GCSE Biology has become very popular over the last few years as it is a prerequisite for many PGCE and Midwifery courses. The course itself involves a wide range of topics, including: genetics, natural environment, evolution, the heart and circulation, the kidneys, cell structure and many more. Practicals are undertaken on the course in order to strengthen knowledge and understanding of the topic area. No dissection is involved on the GCSE Biology course.
