Is the course right for me?
Do you dream of becoming a Nurse or Midwife? Or are you thinking of working for the National Health Service in a related role such as Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Paramedic? If the answer is yes, then look no further! Our Access to HE in Health Studies will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in Higher Education. Upon completion of the course, you will be fully qualified to apply for a Nursing or Midwifery course at a Higher Education establishment in the UK.
What will I be doing?
You will learn through a combination of tutor-led sessions, class discussions, presentations and group work.
During the course, you will study a number of subjects, including Human Biology, Health Issues, Sociology and Psychology. You will also work towards credits in IT and Study Skills.
Entry requirements
We welcome applications from anyone who wishes to move into Higher Education, regardless of age. There are no formal entry requirements. However, you will be asked to complete a 2-hour online test to assess your suitability for the course if you do not currently hold grade C GCSEs in Maths and English Language. You will also be asked to attend an interview where you will have the opportunity to discuss your options and decide on the most suitable course.
Assessment
You will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout the course through essays, presentations and other pieces of written work. You will also have the opportunity to experience a formal examination setting to help prepare you for exams in Higher Education.
What next?
With your Access to HE qualification in Health Studies, you will be qualified to apply to a university degree in a health-related subject. Your tutor will support you through your application.
