About this course

Is the course right for me?

Are you thinking about a degree in Literature, Geography or History? Or considering working in journalism or teaching a related subject? If so, then this option will suit you. With our Humanities option, you have the opportunity to study a range of subjects. You will also have the opportunity to build on your writing, presentation and research skills to prepare you for university study.

What will I be doing?

You will study modules in Literature, Education Studies, History and Geography. Within this framework, there are a variety of different units to choose from. You may like to study different aspects of the media, the development of education or the importance of gender in literature. You will also learn important IT and study skills that will help ease the transition into university life.

Entry requirements

We welcome applications from anyone who wishes to move into Higher Education, regardless of age. There are no formal entry requirements. However, you will be asked to complete a 2-hour online test to assess your suitability for the course if you do not currently hold grade C GCSEs in Maths and English Language. You will also be asked to attend an interview where you will have the opportunity to discuss your options and decide on the most suitable course.

Assessment

You will be assessed on a continuous basis throughout the course through essays, reports, exams and presentations. You will have the opportunity to experience a formal examination setting to help prepare you for exams in Higher Education.
