About this course

The Foundation Certificate in Learning and Development Practice (CLDP) provides a firm foundation in all the areas of Learning and Development (L&D), including its impact on business sustainability.  It is an essential introduction for L&D professionals.  It will help you develop essential skills and give you the confidence to be more effective at work and add value to your HR or training function. Whether you're just starting out in your career or want to take your career to the next level with a recognised professional qualification, the CLDP will help to build your knowledge and skills.  It is aimed at aspiring and existing trainers and those looking for a strong grounding in L&D essentials, including those who are aspiring to, or embarking on, a career in L&D and anyone working in the field of L&D in a support role and wish to develop their knowledge and skills.

The Certificate in L&D Practice consists of the following modules:

  • Developing yourself as an effective L&D practitioner
  • Understanding organisations and the role of L&D
  • Recording, analysing and using HR/L&D information
  • Undertaking a learning needs analysis
  • Designing learning and development activities
  • Supporting good practice in performance and reward management
  • Delivering learning and development activities

The programme includes a study skills workshop, full online tutorial support and access to a range of electronic text books.

Part time: This course is delivered on a Tuesday 6.00 pm – 9.00 pm.
Flexible: As this is a modular course it can also be run on a flexible basis, with various start dates as follows:

Entry requirements

There are no prior qualifications required for this course other than an interest in Learning and Development.

Assessment

This takes the form of continuous assessment throughout the duration of the course and includes a combination of written assignments, case study work and practical activities.
