Apply for this course

About this course

The aim of the programme is to enable students to achieve the appropriate level of the AAT Accounting Qualification. This will provide the student with the skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to undertake the demanding work of an accounting technician.

The programme is divided into three levels the first of which is the AAT Level 2 Certificate for Accounting Technicians which includes:

  • Basic Accounting 1
  • Basic Accounting 2
  • Basic Costing
  • Working effectively in accounting and finance
  • Computerised accounting

This programme is available in the following modes of study:

  • Tuesday (10.00-16.45)
  • Tuesday (14.00-20.45)
  • Tuesday and Wednesday (18.00-20.45)

Students following the Apprenticeship route will also be required to take the Level 3 unit 'Professional Ethics in Accounting & Finance'.

Entry requirements

The minimum requirement is Grade C in GCSE in Maths and English.  All new students, irrespective of the level they join at will be required to successfully complete an online Level 2 literacy and numeracy test.

For a minority of students with specific experience or qualifications, it may be possible to enter the course straight into the AAT Level 3 Diploma for Accounting Technicians, and we can advise individuals about this.

Assessment

The units Computerised Accounting and Working Effectively in Accounting and Finance will be assessed internally by means of an online AAT assessment.

All other units, including Professional Ethics for apprentices, will be assessed by computer-based assessments.

All assessments will take place during normal lesson time where possible
