Time:

Flexible Learning - Enrolment is available all year round and the Training Unit is open throughout the year, including during the Easter, summer and half term holidays. You are in charge of your own timetable allowing you choose the most convenient times for you to learn.

Location:

The Training Unit is in the All Saints Building, top floor, in Rooms M421, M422, M423 and M425 (Office) at Worcester College of Technology, Deansway, Worcester, WR1 2JF

Financial Help:

You may be able to benefit from reduced course fees if you are unemployed, and/or on an eligible benefit. Please contact the College for further information.

Access and Support:

The Training Unit believes everyone should be able to undertake our courses regardless of disability and we try to make our courses as accessible as possible.  We can cater for visually and hearing impaired students, and anyone who uses a wheelchair.

Due to our location on the top floor of the All Saints Building, getting here can sometimes seem problematic, but there is a lift you can use to get to us. Please ask at Reception upon your arrival for a lift-key, and let us know when you’re arriving so we can be on hand to help with any doors.   Just past reception is the disabled toilet which also includes baby changing facilities. Unfortunately there is not a disabled toilet on the top floor, but standard toilets are available.

If the fire alarm goes off, the lift will not work, so we will need to exit the building via its central ramps.  We also have an ‘Evac-Chair ‘available to help quickly evacuate the building via the stairs if it is the only exit available.

There are many other forms of support available, such as support for suffers of dyslexia, mental health problems, etc.  Please ask if you want more details.

Also if you could do with improving your basic skills, such as Maths and English, you may be able to access free courses in our excellent Beacon Study Centre.  Again, please ask if you would like any more information.

Advice and Support Centre (ASC):

The Advice and Support Centre can give advice and support on a wide range of issues / difficulties you may have, for example travel, childcare, finance, your course and many others.

ASC is located in All Saints Building, Ground Floor, Opposite the Main Entrance as you enter.

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA):

If you are an eligible student aged 16-18 you maybe entitled to £30 per week payment from the Government whilst on your iTQ course. To find out more information on EMA, including the terms and conditions, please visit http://ema.direct.gov.uk and / or ask ASC!

Adult Guidance Unit (AGU) and Adult Learning Grant (ALG):

Also within the Advice and Support Centre is the Adult Guidance Unit (AGU) which can give advice specifically to students and potential students aged 19 and over on many topics. AGU can also help with applications for the Governments Adult Learning Grant (ALG), which entitles eligible students up to £30 per week in payments from the Government whilst you undertake your iTQ course.

Student Facilities:

As a student at Worcester College of Technology, you are entitled to use many different resources, such as your own fully featured email with calendar, tasks and notes functions, internet access, library facilities including online resources, computer access in the evenings and weekends, membership of the Student Union and its many events and trips, opportunities to write for the Student Magazine and to review free music and films, hot food from our Inspired Café, welfare advice and support, sexual health advice, equality and diversity support, religious groups and much, much more.
