Is the course right for me?
If you are looking to develop a career in construction but unsure which trade to specialise in, our Diploma in Construction Level 2 can help! By introducing you to a range of areas, from carpentry and brickwork to plumbing and joinery, our course will provide you with the background knowledge and basic skills you need to progress to higher education or begin work in a junior position.
What will I be doing?
Our course consists of six units. You will study three core units and three specialist units, which means that you can choose to focus on your favourite subject and develop your own skills and interests in this area. You can choose to specialise in a range of areas, including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, electrical, brickwork or painting and decorating.
You will begin with an overview of the structure of the construction industry, followed by an insight into different drawing techniques. You will also learn about health and safety, welfare issues, environmental issues, and the science and maths behind construction.
Additional Costs: You will be required to pay £25 for course t-shirts
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but a reasonable standard of secondary education, including a minimum grade D in Maths and English, is preferred.
You will also be invited to attend an interview, where you can demonstrate your interest in the construction industry.
Assessment
You will be assessed on an ongoing basis through a range of practical and written tasks.
What next?
Your Diploma in Construction Level 2 will prepare you for a more advanced course such as an Extended Diploma in Construction Level 3 or in a specific pathway such as Bench Joinery, Brickwork, Carpentry or Painting and Decorating. Alternatively, you could choose to enter employment as a junior in your chosen area.
