About this course

Is the course right for me?

Have you completed your Level 2 Diploma and feel ready to learn new skills? Do you dream of becoming a qualified Joiner or setting up your own independent business? If the answer is yes, then this is the course for you! Our Diploma in Bench Joinery Level 3 will introduce you to a range of advanced joinery techniques and allow you to carry out exciting new projects that will prepare for you for a great career in the industry.

What will I be doing?

Our course will develop your practical skills and widen your knowledge of construction theory. You will learn how to set up and use fixed and transportable machinery. There will also be an opportunity to manufacture complex joinery products such as curved hand railings, bulls-eye windows, formers for arches and a full-sized, working kite-winder staircase. You will use drawings, job sheets, plans, geometric techniques and mathematics to complete your work.

Other topics that you will cover include workplace safety, cost efficiency, environmental issues, construction industry regulations and safe working practices.

Entry requirements

You will need a Diploma in Construction Bench Joinery Level 2 to apply for the course and a reasonable standard of secondary education, including a minimum grade D in Maths and English.

Assessment

You will assessed on an ongoing basis. Each unit has a number of tasks that you will need to complete to achieve your award. This could include producing drawings and completing project work.

What next?

With a Diploma in Bench Joinery Level 3, you can choose to progress to an apprenticeship in carpentry or joinery. You may also want to consider our HNC in Civil Engineering.
