Is the course right for me?

If you are good with numbers and like working with your hands, then Carpentry could be your perfect career. From preparing building foundations to installing flooring, it is a specialist craft and Carpenters are vital to almost every part of the construction industry. Our Diploma in Site Carpentry Level 2 is a natural progression from a Level 1 qualification but is also suitable for complete beginners to the industry.

What will I be doing?

Our course balances theory with hands-on experience to help you develop a basic knowledge of carpentry. You will learn how to carry out first fixing and second fixing procedures, how to erect structural carcassing and how to operate a circular saw. You will cover a number of topics including health and safety, moving and handling materials, communication skills and the working out of different quantities.

By the end of the course, you will be able to demonstrate a number of new skills, including the construction of a timber frame entrance.

Additional Costs: You will be required to pay £25 for course t-shirts

Entry requirements

You will need a Foundation Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery or a reasonable standard of secondary education, including a minimum grade D in Maths and English. You will also be genuinely interested in the construction industry and eager to learn new skills.

Assessment

You will create a folder of work and your tutor will mark this as you complete each task. You will also take an online test where you will choose answers from a set of multiple-choice questions.
