In your second year, you will study a number of important management principles and discuss structural analysis and other aspects of civil engineering such as construction economics and materials. You will also complete an industrial placement where you will be assessed on your project performance
The focus of the course is primarily on technical aspects of the subject and the management issues associated with civil engineering projects. You will be encouraged to apply your theoretical knowledge to workplace examples.

You could be working on civil engineering projects from design stage to construction and completion. These projects might include the development and construction of bridges, tunnels, roads, railways, dams, pipelines and major buildings. You might be in the office, working on designs at a computer and liaising with the client or you could be on site, leading teams, solving problems. This is a very 'hands-on' job!
