Is the course right for me?

From power and lighting to air-con and refrigeration, we use electricity for different reasons every day of our lives. Electricians play a vital role in ensuring that our lives run smoothly. They carry out a range of tasks, including the installing, testing, and maintaining of electrical and control systems for climate control, security, and communications. This is a skilled trade and qualified Electricians are constantly in demand! With our PEO in Electrical Installation Level 1, you will gain the basic skills and knowledge you need to develop a career in electrical engineering.

What will I be doing?

You will about the theory and practice of electrical engineering. In our specialist engineering workshops, you will learn about the basic principles of electrical installation. You will take part in a range of practical demonstrations where you will work with electrical systems, hand tools and instruments to identify faults, fix problems and construct circuits.

You will learn how to use technical information, and how to work safely and efficiently in an engineering environment. You will also have the opportunity to develop your IT and Functional skills, and get involved in different teambuilding activities.

Entry requirements

You will need a reasonable standard of GCSEs in different subjects, including at least an E in English, Maths and Science. You will also have a capacity for practical work and a real interest in the industry. Before starting on the course, we will invite you to attend an interview, complete a selection test and provide a reference.

Assessment

You will complete practical assignments and written exams. You will be tested on your theoretical knowledge and the practical projects that you complete in the workshop.

What next?

With a PEO in Electrical Installation Level 1, you can apply for our Electrical Installation C&G 2330 Level 2, followed by an apprenticeship.
