Is the course right for me?
Are you a natural problem solver who likes fixing things? Our Electrical Installation Level 2 is a tried and tested route into working in electrical engineering and offers the perfect introduction to this exciting industry. Whether you are thinking of completing an apprenticeship, or already working as an engineer and looking to gain a qualification, our course will provide you with the practical skills, knowledge and training you need to develop a career as an Electrician.
What will I be doing?
At our on-site engineering workshops, you will learn how to carry out a range of electrical installation tasks using measuring instruments and hand tools.
You will also learn about the theory of electrical principles. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of different wiring regulations and the science behind electrical topics such as electromagnetism, electric motors, alternators and other devices. You will also learn about different types of lighting, AC theory, cable sizing and testing.
During the course, you will have the opportunity to learn about health and safety requirements, develop your IT and Functional skills and get involved in a range of teambuilding activities.
Entry requirements
You will need a reasonable standard of GCSEs in different subjects, including at least a D in English, Maths and Science. You will also have a capacity for practical work and a real interest in the industry. Before starting on the course, we will invite you to attend an interview, complete a selection test and provide a reference.
Assessment
You will complete practical assignments and written exams. You will be tested on your theoretical knowledge and the practical projects that you complete in the workshop.
What next?
With a course in Electrical Installation Level 2, you will be ready to begin an apprenticeship and study for a Level 3 qualification such as our Electrotechnical Technology FTEI Level 3 or an alternative Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation. If you want to go straight into the world of work, you could consider working for a company.
