About this course

Is the course right for me?

Do you like to work at your own pace? Are you eager to learn but need extra help in developing your skills? Look no further! Our Job Path course offers an individual learning programme that allows you to make your own choices about how and what you learn. You will develop a range of personal, social and vocational skills that will help you progress to further study or prepare for the world of work.

What will I be doing?

You will carry out a range of work placement activities that will help enhance your employability skills, and our careers advice and guidance sessions will give you an idea of the different careers that you can choose from. We have links with external voluntary and employment agencies who can improve your knowledge and understanding of the world of employment.

You will also improve your interview and job seeking skills, learn how to manage your own money, and begin to understand the importance of taking responsibility for your own actions in a work environment.

Depending on your ability and progress, you may be able to achieve a Diploma in Skills Towards Enabling Progression, Certificate in Personal and Social Development or an OCR in Functional English, Maths and IT. You will learn through a mix of lessons and personal tutorials, and you will receive learning support throughout the entire course.

Entry requirements

Our course is aimed at entry-level learners who need support to develop their functional, personal and employability skills.

We welcome referrals from mainstream schools, special schools, other colleges, Connexions, Social Services, parents or carers. We also welcome self-referral. We will invite you to attend an interview before you begin the course

Assessment

You will work with your tutor to set your own personal targets and assess your needs. If you choose to study for a qualification, you will complete a folder of your work. Your tutor will mark your work and meet with you to give you feedback.

What next?

Our course is intended to help you develop the skills you need to progress onto further education, training or employment. After completing the course, you may like to study one of our Catering, Care or Uniformed Services courses at Level 1/2.
