HSE Emergency First Aid at Work

About this course

This one-day course is for employees wishing to learn basic first aid, which qualifies them to act as the Appointed Person in the Workplace. This course is also suitable for those wishing to attend a general first aid course.

You will cover the following topics:

• The principles of first aid
• The role of the first aider
• Communicating with a casualty
• Minor conditions including minor cuts, grazes and bruises
• Contents of a first aid kit
• Reporting and aftercare
• The unconscious casualty
• Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
• Choking
• Blood loss and shock

An Emergency First Aider at Work Certificate is received upon completion.  The Certificate is valid for three years.

Accredited by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)

Entry requirements

Candidates must be able to physically carry out the procedures listed in the course content.
