HSE First Aid at Work

About this course

This three day course is suitable for all companies, particularly those with a large number of staff or working in a high risk environment. 

You will cover the following topics:

• The principles of first aid
• The role of the first aider
• Communicating with a casualty
• Minor conditions including minor cuts and grazes,  bruises, small splinters
• Contents of a first aid kit
• Reporting and aftercare
• Blood loss and shock
• Burns and scalds
• Eye injuries
• Fractures and dislocations, including spinal injuries
• Sprains and strains
• Causes of unconsciousness
• The recovery position

In addition the course will cover a practical guide to major conditions including:

• Diabetes
• Seizures
• Asthma
• Heart Attack
• Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
• Choking
• Stroke
• Sudden poisoning
• Anaphylactic shock

Upon successful completion the First Aider at Work Certificate is achieved.  The Certificate is valid for three years.

Accredited by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
