Who should attend
For those who are responsible for running a facility that provides services for vulnerable children, adults or both. You might be an assistant or deputy manager, or a manager who has not yet achieved a recognised vocational qualification at this level.
Course Content
Learners must achieve a total of 80 credits to complete the qualification comprising a mix of mandatory, core and optional units.
The Learning and Skills Development Officer will provide support and guidance in selecting the appropriate units.
Mandatory Units - Group A
- Use and develop systems that promote communication
- Promote professional development
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
- Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people's settings
- Working in partnership in health and social care or children and young people's settings
Core Units - Group F
- Manage health and social care practice to ensure positive outcomes for individuals
- Safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults
- Understand safeguarding of children and young people (for those working in the adult sector)
- Lead person centred practice
- Lead and manage a team within a health and social care or children and young people's setting
- Develop professional supervision practice in health and social care or children and young people's work settings
- Assess the individual in a health and social care setting
Optional Units - Group H Management Units

Assessment - Learners must achieve the level of competence described in the NVQ units of competence, through direct observation within the workplace combined with a portfolio of additional evidence such as professional discussions and witness testimonies.
