About this course

If you are working in the catering industry and wish to develop your skills and progress your career in the industry, then this is the place to start.

What does this course aim to do?
The course aims to give a good introduction to the catering industry. You will learn many different food preparation and cooking methods and you will learn all aspects of hygiene and food safety. This course will give you a sound basis in order to achieve a Level 2 National Vocational Qualification Diploma in Professional Cookery.

This course will help you to develop good practical skills in food preparation and cookery. To be successful you will need to learn the theory to support these skills and you will be tested on your knowledge. You will also work in the catering kitchen preparing meals to serve to the general public.

Entry requirements

After successful achievement of the qualification you can expect to obtain a junior position in a professional kitchen of a national or international hospitality and catering organisation.
