ILEX Certificate in Law Level 6 - Equity and Trusts

About this course

A single unit qualification recognising candidates' achievements in a specific area of law or legal practice. Candidates who continue their studies and complete 3 further qualifying modules together with both Professional Skills modules will then have achieved the final academic stage towards becoming a Legal Executive and will be awarded the ILEX Level 6 Professional Higher Diploma in Law and Practice.

In this module students are introduced to the concept of the Trust and its important function in both family and commercial settings. They will learn the main concepts of Equity and their relation to legal rules. Students will appreciate and be able to demonstrate the important role of the trustee in administering trusts. In line with the vocational nature of this course, the emphasis will be on applying rules and case law to practical situations.

Entry requirements

The examinations can be taken by those who have passed, or gained exemptions from, Level 3.  (Unless they are taken on an individual basis, as explained above). For information about exemptions please contact Aidan Flynn on 01905 743405.

Please note that entry is not restricted to those employed in solicitors' offices.

Assessment

There is one three-hour examination for each subject.  Examinations are held in January and June.  Students must enter for the examinations with Ilex.  The college is not responsible for examination entries.
