In this subject you will study civil wrongs. The most important one is negligence. You will also study defamation of character, the land torts, trespass to the person, occupiers' liability. The Human Rights Act is important in many areas of tort law.
Lessons for Ilex Level 6 subjects start at either 9.15 or 13.30 and are for three hours. In any particular subject the lesson happens either on Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon and is delivered in this way either from September to December or from January to May.
Entry requirements
The examinations can be taken by those who have passed, or gained exemptions from, Level 3. (Unless they are taken on an individual basis, as explained above). For information about exemptions please contact Aidan Flynn on 01905 743405.
Please note that entry is not restricted to those employed in solicitors' offices.
Assessment
There is one three-hour examination for each subject. Examinations are held in January and June. Students must enter for the examinations with Ilex. The college is not responsible for examination entries.
