Is the course right for me?
Our Diploma in Sport Level 2 gives you the opportunity to your improve your sporting skills, tactics and technique. But there's more to our course than kicking a ball! You will also learn the theory you need to support your practical skills, including how to plan a successful sports event and run activity sessions. Our course will introduce you to the industry and help you gain the basic skills and knowledge you need to progress to higher education or begin working in the sports, leisure and fitness industries.
What will I be doing?
Our hands-on course introduces you to a range of topics related to sports and leisure, such as sport psychology, nutrition, health, safety and fitness. You will learn about the effects of exercise on the body systems, the common injuries and illnesses in sport, and the importance of risk management and assessment.
Our unit on anatomy and physiology introduces you to the structure of the human body and the workings of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. You will also investigate current issues affecting the sports industry and explore the different organsiations that are involved in sports development.
On top of all this, you will have the chance to participate in a wide variety of sports. This will improve your sporting technique and help you understand the rules, regulations and physical requirements of different activities.
Entry requirements
You will need a reasonable standard of GCSE grades A-D, including at least a D in English, PE and Science. Alternatively, you will have a relevant entry-level qualification and a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy. You will need to demonstrate a genuine interest in physical education and all types of sport, and be keen to learn new skills. You will also need to take a series of football trails before starting the Football Academy.
Assessment
You will complete assignments, practical activities and a portfolio of evidence. Your tutor will mark your work and give you feedback to help you improve your studies.
What next?
With your Level 2 Diploma, you can choose to progress to one of our Level 3 Diplomas in Sport and Exercise Science or Sports Performance (Football Academy). You may also like to consider our Extended Diploma in Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness.
