What will I be doing?

You will learn through a combination of practical activities and class-based learning.

Our course focuses on the main subject areas of sports and exercise science, including anatomy, physiology, psychology, nutrition and coaching.

How do our bodies react to exercise? Can staying healthy and hydrated help prevent sporting injuries? You will discover the answers to these and many more questions during your course. You will learn about the structure and function of the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. You will also explore the mechanisms of fatigue and recovery, and the importance of identifying, preventing and rehabilitating common sports injuries.

You will develop vital research skills that will help you collect data, analyse your findings and apply your research to a sports and exercise context.

You will also develop a range of new skills, tactics and techniques for team and individual sporting activities.

Entry requirements

You will have five GCSE grades A-C, with a minimum grade D in English, Maths and Science.

Assessment

You will be assessed on an ongoing basis through group presentations, written tests, practical activities and portfolio assignments.
