What will I be doing?
Our course balances classroom learning with hands-on and practical activities. Our course can help you develop your confidence, independence and knowledge of development, coaching and fitness, ready for a great career in this field.
The main aim of our course is to develop your understanding and knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, skills and techniques involved in sports coaching and development. You will learn the importance of good nutrition and fitness testing, and carry out a range of team and individual sporting activities that will allow you to demonstrate your skills.
How do our bodies respond to long-term exercise? How can we prevent and treat injuries sustained during different sports? With specialist units covering risk assessment, anatomy, physiology and sports development, you will be able to answer these and many more fascinating questions about sporting performance. You will even explore the role of psychology in sport and investigate its effect on sporting development.
Entry requirements
You will have five GCSE grades A-C, with a minimum grade D in English, Maths and Science. You will also have a practical interest in a range of team and individual sports, such as football, volleyball, netball or even martial arts!
Assessment
You will be assessed on an ongoing basis through group presentations, written tests, practical activities and portfolio assignments.
What next?
After your Level 3 Diploma, you may want to consider our Foundation Degree in Sport (Tourism) Coaching and Development or a Degree in Sports Coaching, Sports Studies or Sports Science.
There are many exciting careers to choose from in the Sports and Leisure Industry, but you may want to think about becoming a Fitness Instructor, Sports Consultant, Personal Trainer or Sports and Exercise Psychologist.
