About this course

Is the course right for me?

If you are between the age of 16 and 18, and thinking of working in the sports, fitness or uniformed services sector, then this is the course for you! Our brand-new Fit Programme will help you to improve your skills and raise your chances through an exciting mix of qualifications in Sports and Uniformed Services. This is a practical programme, meaning that you will enjoy hands-on learning and have the opportunity to join in with sports activities and get involved with class trips. With our programme, you will be fit to work, fit to study and fit for life!

What will I be doing?

You will be studying a unique combination of Sport and Uniformed Services qualifications, including a Certificate in Sport and Active Leisure Level 1, a Certificate in Uniformed Services Level 1 and an Award in Workskills Level 1.

You can choose from subjects such as 'Taking Part in Sport', 'Taking Part in Fitness and Exercise', 'Fitness for Uniformed Services' and 'Expedition Skills'. You will also learn about managing you own money, working as a team and solving work-related problems.

During your Certificate in Uniformed Services Level 1, you will learn how to map read using Ordnance Survey Maps, how to work as a team, and how to deal with difficult incidents and assist the public. This course provides an overview of the careers available in uniformed services and helps you understand your rights and responsibilities at work. You will also learn how to apply for a job and conduct yourself in a work-based situation. 

There will be an opportunity for you to study for additional qualifications such as First Aid, Sports Leadership and Coaching.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but we will invite you to attend an informal interview to see if you are suitable for the course.

Assessment

You will complete a folder of work. Your tutor will mark this on an ongoing basis and offer you feedback to help you improve your studies.

What next?

With your Fit Programme of qualifications, you can choose to study any of our Level 2 qualifications in Sport or Uniformed Services.
