We're Outstanding!

02 03_WereOutstandingWorcester College of Technology are thrilled that it’s two nurseries have once again been rated outstanding by Ofsted, the government education inspection body. This is following a year of being the city centre’s only outstanding childcare provider,

The reports which were published earlier this week scored both nurseries as outstanding in every aspect from how much the children enjoy the atmosphere to how well trained staff are. The news came as no surprise to parent Alex Gwinn who’s son Sam attends the nursery. Mr Gwinn commented “All 3 of my children have gone to the nurseries and have all really enjoyed it. The staff are wonderful. Sammy is always really excited going every morning. It’s helped all my children not only make friends and build confidence but also fully prepared them for primary school”.

The two nurseries, which are sited in the heart of the city, currently take children between 3 months and 5 years old and is open to the general public as well as users of the College. The report highlighted the nursery staff by saying “Staff are competent and caring and have an excellent knowledge and understanding of each child's individual needs and interests. These are used to plan a wealth of exciting activities and provide children with a rich learning environment. Children benefit extremely well from continuity of care and learning because the setting liaises with parents and other agencies. This ensures that individual children's needs are met and their protection assured”. It goes on to talk about the site as having “a wonderful ethos, which provides a welcoming and stimulating environment in which children thrive”.

Despite the positive Ofsted reports the hard work has not stopped for the staff at the nursery who are continuously aiming to improve children’s experiences at the College. Nursery Manager Emma Lockwood said “The staff are delighted with the Ofsted report and are incredibly proud of the work they do. The quality of care and education offered at the two nurseries is of a high standard, and this is reflected in the passion and enthusiasm of the staff team. We have offered nearly 22 years of quality childcare to students and staff at the college and are now very excited about opening more places to the general public, which we hope will support local businesses with their childcare needs. To achieve two outstanding inspections has been an amazing result for us and we are now looking forward to a busy year ahead.”

Peter Robinson, Director of student guidance and support added “Having provided childcare for students and staff for a number of years we are very pleased with this result. We pride ourselves on the individual care we offer our children, working closely with parents and carers to ensure a home from home experience.”

Established in 1990, the College has been providing high quality childcare for over 20 years, offering drop off sessions at £4.50 per hour to discounted full day places which include a cooked meal. The nurseries accept funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds and childcare vouchers too!
