Staying safe at College
You have a right to be safe while at college, on work placement or in your work place. You also have a responsibility not to harm others and to help create a safe environment at the college.
Safeguarding is the proceedure used by educational institutions to help protect, support and educate pupils, students, trainees, graduates and staff who are studying at the college.
Safeguarding includes; health and safety issues, protection and removal from forms of abuse, harassment or discrimination, preventing violence or bullying and preparing students for life outside of college.
The Safeguarding Learners Group
The college has a Safeguarding Learners Group that monitors health and safety incidents, reports from students, the types of welfare issues our students bring to our attention, preparation for work experience and work-based learning and e-safety. The aim is to provide a safe environment that is stimulating and prepares you for the things that life may throw at you.
We find that our students are safe, happy and well-motivated during their studies, but if you or a friend are:
- Being made to do things you/they don’t want to
- Not being looked after properly
- Being physically hurt
- Being emotionally hurt
- Being bullied, including cyber bullying
