‘The College aims to provide its services free from bias. Our intention is to reflect not only the letter, but also the spirit of the legislation’
This is the College’s equality statement and it means the College will not simply uphold and meets its duties under equality law, but will actively seek to eliminate discrimination, and celebrate diversity.
Equality and diversity are integral elements of services to students.
- We want students’ views on our services. If you have any related comments or issues you wish to discuss will us please email, or drop a line on the portal site.

- We celebrate difference and diversity. For example, we have had a celebrating diversity competition, an Islamic awareness week of events, a roadshow, and displays around the College informing and discussing gay issues.
- We offer support and action groups that students can join, for example Open Doors, G.L.B.T. group (Gay Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transsexual) and Black and Asian group.
- We have an Equality, Diversity and Disability Policy. This policy includes our Race Equality Policy and action plan. As part of the Race Equality plan we aim to promote good race equality across college, and monitor the numbers of students from a minority ethnic background to ensure that the College student body reflects the local community. Also we aim to ensure that all students reach their best potential.
- We aim to integrate all aspects of good equality practice into our induction and tutorial programmes.
- We have an equality and diversity committee which monitors and pushes forward the work of the College in respect to equality and diversity.
- We employ tutors who are fully committed to supporting all students and who recognise and value individual difference.
