Skills shortages within the Construction Sector sometimes means that getting fully qualified trades people to carry out small maintenance tasks can be difficult. This will hopefully give you the confidence and knowledge to complete these tasks. It may however stimulate further interest within the sector with a view a change of career and employment within the trade.
The course is designed to develop introductory skills in materials used in the Electrical Industry and basic maintenance operations that can be used in domestic situations. It will also include the development of Health and Safety awareness required to complete such tasks whilst minimising risk to injury and property.

• Developing Maintenance Skills

What next?
This course is designed as an entry point into trades associated within the Construction Industry. It can be used as a means to acquire basic skills in order to carry out associated maintenance tasks within your properties or as a starting point for further study.
On completion of the Level 1 Award you may wish to complete further units within the qualification which can include Carpentry, Painting, Decorating, Brickwork or Plumbing. A similar course has been designed in order that you may progress onto a chosen area subject to space.
