Michael Foster MP & students in All Saints' lecture theatreLabour MP for Worcester Michael Foster visited Worcester College of Technology on Friday 26th February to give an insight into his life as a member of parliament and the political environment.

Students on Business and Public Services courses, along with Year 10 students from Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College studying for their Certificate in Business with the College, were given an informative presentation by Mr Foster.

In preparation for a visit to the Houses of Parliament next week, Michael Foster explained to the students what goes on in the Commons and Lords debating chambers and gave them an overview of what Ministers and MP’s do, including a day in the life of account of what he does.

Students were then given the opportunity to ask the MP questions, which the students took full advantage of, asking some pretty probing question, such as, ‘What are an MP’s wages?’ ‘How would you persuade young people to vote?’ ‘Should prisoners be allowed to vote?’ They even asked ‘What do you claim on expenses?’ Mr Foster answered every question, giving clear and explanatory answers.

Students afterwards said ‘he handled answering questions very well and gave us a good insight into the political world.’ Students also agreed they were looking forward to visiting the House of Parliament with Michael Foster next week and asking him more questions about local issues and concerns.
